Who’s the country’s most famous equine patient? Why, Barbaro of course. Since coming up injured in the Preakness, horse racing fans from all over have been sending get well cards. His injury could have very well ended his life, but Barbaro appears to be beating the odds - so far. Barbaro is still at the intensive care unit at the George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals, getting the royal treatment, but he is making progress.

On Saturday, the 138th running of the Belmont Stakes will commence at Belmont Park Race Track.The field of twelve horses is full of horses familiar with graded stakes racing as well as those moving up in class. The race looks to have a good amount of speed. It will be run over 1 1/2 Miles on dirt. Here’s a listing of the horses that plan to run, their post positions and their morning line odds. The English Derby in Epsom was supposed to be a great day for the sport. The English Derby has been run for over 200 years, but Saturday’s English Derby was anything but completely joyous. The race started good enough. The horses looked magnificent. However, as they came to about 600 yards from the wire something happened to Horatio Nelson. The horse stumbled and was pulled up by jockey Kieren Fallon.

Churchill Downs - Lost in the Fog found the way through to win the Aristides Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Last year, Lost in the Fog won the Eclipse Award. He had been struggling of late - losing his last two races. On Saturday, talented jockey, Russell Baze, rode him.

Delaware Park - Next weekend there are many stakes races being run. Belmont Park will be buzzing with activity as they have six graded stakes races running there on June 10th. Stakes races will also go off at Delaware Park, Hollywood Park, Lone Star Park, Mountaineer Park, Pimlico and Woodbine. June 10th is definitely a day to mark on your calendars.

The first race at Emerald Downs is a one mile $12,500 claiming for three year olds who have not won two races. Non-winners of a race since April 01 are allowed two pounds. This race features a small five horse field. The morning line favorite is Johnny the Cat at 9-5, but many handicappers like Aintbrokedontfixit, who is 3-1 on the morning line.
