She had the lead early but gave way and finished in second by 4.5 lengths. The discouraging part was that it was a $4,000 claiming race. She comes up slightly in class today.

Ursulita: For some reason this 5-year-old mare has been raced on turf for her last three races—she didn’t run well. Before that, it was all dirt. She’s listed at 7-2 on the morning line and the return to dirt might be the ticket. Fernandez is riding her today and he’s familiar with Ursulita.

Dented Chad: 12-1 on the morning line. She’s a six-year-old mare. Her last two races were on turf and she didn’t look good there either. I look for her to wallow around and drop down the stretch.

Total Jade: She’s a three-year-old filly that’s coming off a $8,000 maiden race victory. The race was one mile in length and she led from the first turn on. She’s 6-5 on the morning line and should come out with a quick lead. Total Jade looks to be the best horse of the field.

Aly Tally Ho: Listed at 8-1, this three-year-old filly last raced two weeks ago. In that one-mile race, she dueled early but faded. Her lone win was on turf. She’ll look to duel at the front early. She might battle with Total Jade and give other horses a shot at pulling ahead.
