Race one at Hollywood Park posts at 1:20pm PST today. It’s 1 1/6th miles and a $51,000 Allowance race (N1X). The field is just five horses and most of them make a case for this race. The public will most likely gravitate to Shore Patrol, who is in the one position. The morning line has Shore Patrol at 9-5. Shore Patrol’s last few races have been 7 furlongs, 6 furlongs and 6 1/2 furlongs. Shore Patrol looks to be the pace setter in this race and will need to go wire to wire to win.
Personally, I like Three Points in this race. Maybe I am going on a limb a little, but Three Points looks to be made for this distance and if he turns well, he could be right at the front. Three Points is a Bob Baffert trained horse and Court is riding him today. Court rode this colt in his last two races, which included a victory at Santa Anita (Maiden Special Weight 63k). A smaller field should allow him to move. Three Points is 2-1 on the morning line and may move higher with the focus being on other horses.
Another horse that figures to be in the public’s eye is Mr. Katz. He’s been worked out about every 7-10 days, but has not raced since March 26th, when he finished 4th in a 4 horse race at Santa Anita (N1X). The morning line has Mr. Katz at 5-2.
