Race six from Hollywood Park Race Track is a 6 1/2 Furlong $20,000 Claiming race. There are eight horses in the field. The morning horse betting line has Newyearsresolution as the 3-1 favorite. Newyearsresolution is looking for her third consecutive win as she moves up. Her last two wins were at the $12,500 and $16,000 levels at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park respectively. The slight move up should not be too much for her. I don’t see her winning this race and there’s a chance that she does not even finish in the money.

There are faster horses in the mix. My selection for this race is Classic Quality. She is racing after a layoff of about 50 days, but she has been worked out well. Classic Quality is dropping in class and could be primed to run away from the field. Her last race was on April 8th at Turf Paradise (6 furlongs). She broke loose from the six horse field and never looked back. Over the last 3 races, only Adance has a better Beyer figure (81 verses 84).

If Classic Quality can get the lead, look out. Kouri Jill, 4-1 on the morning line, looks to challenge as well. She has been raced on turf her last two times out and proved that turf is not good for her. Kouji Jill looks to fit in and perhaps be maxed out at the $20,000 claiming level. She might warrant a closer look for your exotics.
