Race one is 5 1/2 furlongs in length. It’s a $5,000 Maiden Claiming race for three year olds and upward. Horses over three years old run 6 pounds heavier. The field is ten horses, but it minds well be one. There’s one horse that’s predicted to be a runaway in this race. The horse is B a Doc. He’s a colt with one previous race. B a Doc had his first race on June 10 at another track. The race was a 25k Maiden Special Weight and he finished 8th.
What’s all the fuss about you ask? Well, according to Beyer speed records, B a Doc is the best. The horse also has a good jockey (Whitney 19%) on him. The morning line has B a Doc at 4-5 and that might actually go down further. So it’s all over right? Not so fast. There’s a horse I like in this race that can actually make you money. His name is Greatest Creation and he’s a three year old Gelding. His last race, which was at Mountaineer Park, was at this level and he nearly broke his maiden. He finished in second, just a half length off the lead.
The biggest issue will be his start. He’s had some races where he’s been bumped and off slow, but he’s had times where he’s made a race of it. A lot of money is expected to fall on B a Doc. Take a look at Greatest Creation and you might be surprised. If you think B a Doc just can’t lose, walk away. There’s no money to be made at 4-5.
