Preakness Stakes Scratch : Sedgefield
Sedgefield was scratched from the 2007 Preakness Stakes today. The Vegas racebooks had Sedgefield at 50-1 early.
After running, and finishing 5th, in the Kentucky Derby last weekend, Sedgefield appeared to be a little sore.
If you’re interested in following Sedgefield, he should be racing soon enough. After doing some research, it looks like his trainer is eying the Ohio Derby.
The Ohio Derby runs at Thistledown in Ohio. The 2007 Ohio Derby is being run on June 2, 2007, which is a bit earlier than usual. I’m wondering if this will affect Darrin Miller’s (Sedgefield’s trainer) decision.
The Ohio Derby is a G2 race over 1-1/8 miles with a purse of $300,000.
